October, 2012 · PIETER OMBREGT’S PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE MUSEUM’S PROJECT ROOMS

Istanbul 9-31 October 2012
Extended to: 8 December 2012

Pieter Ombregt’s photography Project entitled XYZ will be shown in the Museum’s Project Rooms.

The city’s chaos and intensity was the source of Pieter’s inspiration in his Works. The artist underlines the
fact that even though surrounded by a mass of people, the individual is confronted with an insurpassable,
undeniable sense of loneliness in the center of the city.

Ombregt’s series were created focusing on a man in an orange jumpsuit observing and contemplating the
world around him while totally isolated from others. He was often the subject of his artwork with his powerful
presence, quietly in quest of his own existence. A mature and philosophical thinker, who left the world at a
very young age but who continues to encourage the viewer to continue this quest of meaning in one’s own
existence.
